GENERAL INFORMATION
Rooibos is a fynbos species within the Cape Floral Kingdom, one of only six recognized floral kingdoms of the world. The plant is indigenous to the Cedarberg region and is the only place in the world where the plant grows naturally. The plants' name comes from the fine, needle-like leaves which turn red when they are fermented. Rooibos is not a true tea, but a herb.

Rooibos is a good source of antioxidants and is the only known source of a potent antioxidant called aspalathin while also containing others like nothofagin, vitexin, isovitex, orientin, isooreintin, luteolin and quercetin. Rooibos tea is rich in several minerals including iron, calcium, potassium, magnesium, zinc and sodium, as well as trace elements like copper, manganese and fluoride. Pure and natural it contains no additives or preservatives. It is a naturally calming substance and help to maintain healthy skin, teeth and bones.

The beneficial properties of Cinnamon have recently come to include that of a treatment for diabetes, not recommended in serious cases of the illness. Cinnamon has been found to have insulin-like properties, and as such can be useful for those suffering from type II diabetes. Benefits of Cinnamon may include decreasing blood glucose levels as well as triglycerides and cholesterol, all of which are especially important for diabetes sufferers. Cinnamon bark is also antispasmodic and it stimulates the salivary glands and the mucous membranes of the stomach. It can therefore be used for digestive problems like indigestion, poor appetite, trapped gas, nausea, belching, flatulence, diarrhea and intestinal spasms.
